These two identical 20'x40' pavilions provide 28'x48' of covered roof area with 4' cantilevered overhangs made possible by 5-ply spruce CLTs!
The Carving Studio and Sculpture center came to us with some pretty unique requests: a large covered roof with minimal framing and no traditional bracing. The pavilions are tall enough for the studio to drive their fork lift in and out from all sides, and the roof overhangs provide the carvers with plenty of protection from the sun and weather. These pavilions are a great example of mass timber and CLT's strengths: speed of construction, reduction in overall timber, and large and elegant overhangs. Both pavilions were built from start to finish in a day!
